Superfine Manufacturing is proud to announce that it has officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant, pledging its ongoing support to members of the Armed Forces community. What Is the Armed Forces Covenant?

The Armed Forces Covenant is a national promise between the UK Government, the Armed Forces, businesses, and the wider public. Its purpose is simple yet vital: to ensure that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly and with respect in the communities, economy, and society they protect.

By signing the Covenant, organisations publicly commit to supporting the Armed Forces community. This includes helping veterans transition into civilian employment, offering flexibility to reservists, and supporting the families of those currently serving.

About the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS)

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) was established by the Ministry of Defence to acknowledge employers who demonstrate exceptional support to the Armed Forces. The ERS operates on three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, each representing a higher standard of commitment and engagement.

  • Bronze Award: Recognises employers who have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and promote an understanding of the Armed Forces community within their organisation.
  • Silver Award: Given to employers who proactively demonstrate their support and offer policies that benefit Armed Forces personnel and their families.
  • Gold Award: Reserved for organisations that go above and beyond, advocating for support to defence people both within and outside their organisation.

Superfine’s Bronze Award represents the first step in this journey and shows its commitment to embedding these values within the business and its culture.

Why Supporting the Armed Forces Matters to Superfine

At Superfine Manufacturing, the company’s ethos has always been rooted in teamwork, resilience, and integrity. These values align closely with those of the Armed Forces. Many of Superfine’s employees, partners, and customers have personal or family connections to military service, and the company recognises the invaluable skills, discipline, and dedication that veterans and reservists bring to the workplace.

By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, Superfine aims to:

  • Create employment opportunities for veterans and reservists who are looking to apply their technical and leadership skills in a civilian setting.
  • Offer flexibility for employees who serve as reservists and and Adult Cadet Force Volunteers (CFAVS), understanding the demands and commitments of their dual roles.
  • Support families of serving personnel by providing a compassionate and adaptable workplace environment.
  • Champion awareness of the Armed Forces community both within the business and across the wider manufacturing industry.

Superfine believes that these actions strengthen its workforce and foster a sense of pride and purpose within the company.

Looking Ahead

The signing of the Armed Forces Covenant and the receipt of the Bronze ERS Award are only the beginning. Superfine Manufacturing is committed to building upon this achievement by deepening its engagement with the Armed Forces community and working towards the Silver and ultimately Gold levels of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

By standing alongside those who serve, Superfine continues to uphold its values of respect, responsibility, and community, ensuring that the business contributes meaningfully to those who have given so much in service to the nation.
